Can STP implement quantum walks on representation graphs?
Specify a graph of coupling paths or irrep labels and an associated quantum walk. Determine the cost of implementing its transitions or reflections using STP.
Discuss this questionConstruct and analyze a walk on an explicitly defined graph of coupling paths or representation labels, and determine whether STP realizes a useful transition, reflection, or measurement of that walk efficiently. Distinguish a coherent walk from a classical Markov chain on measured labels.
Why this is interesting
The representation graph may expose the structure that an algorithm explores, while also suggesting mixing, hitting-time, or interference arguments.
Explicit variants
A named algorithmic test
Use the welded-tree traversal problem with its original adjacency-oracle access and input promises. Specify an encoded implementation of each oracle call, then ask whether a walk through coupling or representation data explains the traversal mechanism while preserving the query accounting.
Transition kernels induced by measurements
Express a sequence of STP instruments in Young-tableau, coupling-tree, or Temperley–Lieb coordinates. Determine when measured labels form a closed classical Markov process and when multiplicity coherence or additional quantum memory is necessary. Characterize the realizable transition rules and identify a task for which coherent processing gives a provable advantage.
A place to start
For four and six spins, compute recoupling matrices and compare coherent path evolution with the transition probabilities obtained after measurement.
